Blasius Kebil, Prominent Resident of Western End of the County, Dies at his Home in Liberty Township. Other Deaths. JACOB F. RICE Jacob F. Rice, a well known resi dent of Bendersville, died at his home in that place on Friday afternoon at 1.80 from Heart Dropsy aged 74 years, * months and 13 days. Mr. Rice, who was widely known throughout the upper end of Adams county, was a wagon maker in Bend ersville for fifty years. He was a mem ber of Bethlehem Lutheran church, Bendersville, for forty five years. Mr. Rice served nine months during the Civil War as a member of Company I, 165th Pennsylvania. Surviving are his wife and five children. Mrs. Emma Bream,of Aspers route 2: Mrs. Annie Taylor, of Har risburg; Curtis Rice, Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Margaret Beck and Charles F. Rice at home. Six grandchildren also survive. Several Monday morning at 10.00 o'clock from the Lutheran church in Bendersville conducted by Rev. Mr. Floto. Interment in Bendersville cemetery. SAMUEL KLINEFELTER Samuel Klinefelter, one of Bigler ville’s best known residents was found dead at the barn at his home at 1.30 Monday afternoon, death having re sulted from heart disease. About ten years ago his wife was found dead in bed at her home from a similar ail ment. Mr. Klinefelter, who was formerly a resident of Lebanon, was aged 81 years, 1 month and 5 days. He moved to Biglerville about twelve years ago and had been living with his son, V. S. Klinefelter, the station agent at that place, ever since. He was a car penter by trade and for the last five years had been conducting successfully a barrel factory in Biglerville. He was a member of the Biglerville Luth eran church. He is survived by one son, A. 8. Klinefelter. Funeral services Wed nesday afternoon from the house. The body was taken to Lebanon on Thursday on the early morning train. JOANNA MARGARET SLENTZ On Monday afternoon about four o'clock Miss Joanna Margaret Slentz, one of Gettysburg's best known res dents, died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Slaybaugh on Chambers burg street, aged 80 years, 3 months and 2 days. Miss Slentz was a native of Gettys burg and lived here all of her life with the exception of a few years spent in Washington. She was one of eleven children of John and Maria Troxel Slentz and was the granddaugh ter of John Troxel who was a close friend of James Gettys, the founder of Gettysburg. Miss Slentz was a member of St. James Lutheran church Mrs. H. L. Mears, a sister, living on Buford avenue, is the only living member of the original family. Funeral Wednesday afternoon at 2.30 from her late home, conducted by Rev. Dr. J. A. Clutz. Interment in Ever green cemetery. TYSON CANNON Tyson Cannon, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Cannon, of Pittsburg, died at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Tipton, on Chambersburg street at 8 o'clock Satur day evening from diphtheria. He was aged 10 years, 1 month and 1 day. The little boy improved steadily after contracting the disease until last Wednesday when there was a change for the worse and he grew steadily weaker. He was a winsome little fellow and had made many friends during his visits here not only among those of his own age but among older people to whom he appealed strongly. Beside his parents he is survived by two younger brothers. The funeral was held Sunday even ing at six o’clock, interment being made in Evergreen Cemetery. BLASIUS KEBIL Blasius Kebil died at his home in Liberty township Thursday afternoon at 8 o'clock,of gangrene, aged 88 years, 7 months and 5 days. Mr. Kebil was born in Germany and came to this country with his par ents when he was ten years old. He was held in high esteem to all who knew him He is survived by three sons) and four daughters-- George J... proprietor of the Mansion House in Fairfield Joseph, of Chicago: John, of Freeport, Il. ,Mrs. Henry Beard, Mrs. Joseph Rose, Mrs. George Shryock, of Liberty township, and Mrs James H. Sanders, of Hamiltonian township. He is also survived by thirty five grand children and about twenty great grand children. The funeral will likely be held Monday morning, meeting at the house at o'clock with services at the Cath olic church, Fairfield, at 90’ clock. In terment will be made at Gettysburg. MRS. SEVILLA ELTZ Mrs. Sevilla Eltz, widow of the late John Eltz, of McSherrystown, died at 6.15 Wedensday evening, August 10, from a complication of diseases, aged 76 years. The deceased is survived by three sons--John and Frank Eltz, of Mc Sherrystown, and Thomas Eltz, of York, and three daughters—Mrs. Henry Small, Mrs. William Linn and Mrs. Harry Staub, all of MecSherrys town, Funeral Saturday, August 13, at 9 a. m. Services at St. Mary’s Catholic church and interment in St. Mary’s cemetery, Rev. Fr. Dailey officiating. MRS. HARRIET LAWRENCE Mrs Harriet. Lawrence, widow of the late David Lawrence, died at her home in McSherrystown at 9.30 p.m. Saturday, August 6. She is survived by two sons---Greg ory Lawrence, of Brushtown, and Joesph Lawrence, of Conewago town ship, and four daughters—Mrs. Martin Hemler and Miss Sarah Lawrence, of McSherrystown; Mrs. Vincent Myers of Hanover, and Mrs. Henry Adams, of Conewago township. Funeral today at % a. m. at St. Mary’s Catholic church, McSherrys town. Interment in Conewago Chapel cemetery, Father Dailey officiating. C. HOWARD DOUGHERTY Charles Howard Dougherty died at six o’clock a. m. Tuesday at the home of his parents, Mr and Mrs. C. B. Dougherty on Hanover street from diphtheria. He was aged 6 years months and 12 days The boy had been ill for about ten days. He was a bright little fellow and one who will be greatly missed not only at home but by the many who knew him. His parents and one brother, David Dougherty, survive. Funeral in Evergreen Cemetery at 6.30 o'clock Tuesday evening. MRS. HARRIET BAKER Mrs. Harriet Baker, widow of the late George Baker, of Abbottstown, died on Wednesday evening at the home of her daughter, Mra Kk. P. Miller, on York street, aged 80 years. For many years Mrs Baker lived near Abbottstown. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs Miller,and one son, George Baker, of Omata, Nebraska, and by two grandchildren Short funeral services from the house Friday morning at 7:15. Inter ment at Abbottstown at 10:00 a. m.. Rev. Dr. J. A. Clutz, officiating. LLOYD ANDREW GROUPE Lloyd Andrew, infact son of N. L. Groupe and wife, died at his home in Idaville Wednesday afternoon about 4 o’clock from cholera infantum aged three months. He is survived by his parents and two sisters, Elsie and Beulah,at home. Funeral from his home Friday after noon. Services and interment at the Idaville Evangelical church, conduct ed by Rev. Mr. Schaffer. ETHEL WoODWARD Ethel Woodward, the three year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Woodward, of near Cashtown, died at her home Sunday evening of stomach trouble. Her parents and one other child survive. Funeral at 9a. m. Tuesday from the house. Services at the Reformed church Fairfield con ducted by Rev. Mr. Brown. Inter ment at Flobr’s church cemetery. MRS. ALFRED WILT Mrs. Alfred Wilt died at her home near Hampton on Monday evening from heart failure. She expired while sitting in a rocking chair. Funeral service Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock with interment at Reform ed church at Hampton, Rev. Mr. Mill er officiating.
