M, Quillian.After a lingering illness Mrs. Eli/A Ashford Erwin fell peacefully on ( sleep Saturday morning the 7th inst. lt;at the home of her daughter, Mrs. ; E. J. Collins. At the time she was i surrounded by her devoted husband, Mr. A. A. Erwin, aud live surviving children, Mr. T. C. Erwin, of Atlanta, Mrs. E. J. Collins, H. N. Merck, of Gainesville, Mrs. W. J. Campbell, ■ of Atlanta, and Mrs. P. T. Shutze, of Columbus. Mrs. Erwin was seventy years of age and these years she had spent well and usefully. As a wife she was fond, devoted and true, rendering happy the heart and the home of him whom she ^honored with her love. No husband could ask for a better wife than she and her life-long companion thus sorely bereft can lind consolation only in the hope of a happy reunion in the beautiful beyond. As a mother she was lov- ; ing, tender and self-sacrificiEg in her devotion to her children. As friend and neighbor, in fact in every relation of life she was true and tried, measuring well up to all of her duties and obligations. Of a genial, pleasant disposition, and a warm, affectionate heart, she made frieuds readily and was best loved by those who knew her best. She was a consistent and faithful member of the Baptist church, leading an exemplary Christian life, being at the time of her death in deed and in truth a “Mother in Israel.” During her last \ illness she suffered greatly but bore it with much Christian patience aud fortitude. Her faith was sustaining, triumphant. She had no fear of death, looking to its approach with eagerness, because it would bring release from physical pain and usherher into the presence of her belovedLord and Master; and yet she was willing to abide here and suffer llong as it was His will. Her last words were, “0 death! death! death ! Where is thy sting?” and following) this the words, “Victory! Victory!” She passed away expecting in due time to have the pleasure of weleom- 1 ing each loved one to the blissful j shores of heaven and happy in the ; anticipation of a full and glorious reunion over there. Truly the world is-better because of the life of such a consecrated woman. The bereaved ones have the profound sprnpathy of the entire community. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Sunday morning, conducted by her beloved dastor, Rev. J. F. Eden, and the interment was at Pine Wood cemetery.AlPPVODiS Troubles are due to
