At Loch Arbour, near the oceau, is a neat Queen Anne Cottage, just recently built and now occupied by Mrs. Mary W. Parkins. Saturday morning about 4 o’clock Mrs. Parkins and her daughter were awakened by a crash of lightning that struck the large chimney in the centre of the roof and shivered the house in every part. The lightning changed its course several times. Passing down the chimney it tore the flooring of the third story and then leaped to the floor below, striking but a few feet from the bed iu which Mrs. Parkins was sleeping. A close examination has fuiied tc disclose the course taken by the electricity in reaching the ground from this point. Neither Mrs. Parkins nor any other inmate of the cottage was seriously injured, though all suffered some from the shock. The damage is thought to be slight, aud is covered by insurance in the Continental and Washington companies. —Journal,
