Of course, it will be necessary to punish some of them with comparative severity owing to the gravity of their offence, but the majority will doubtless be let off with a paltry light sentence. One thing is certain, had many of their number not pleaded guilty they would have been indicted for high treason, and the Crown had such strong evidence against them that conviction was a foregone conclusion. By this course an amount of trouble has been saved the Crown and the prisoner, and a not inconsiderable amount of money saved the Goverment. The follow ing the list of the prisoners who plead: of guilty! Philip Garorau, Elaen Swan, Patrick Tutroad, Francis Ig nace Parentewa, Jon Arcadd, Ignace Poitens, Paul Vandal, Maxime Dubos, Hite, Rochelean, M. Champagne, Jos. Pilon, Moise Parentewu, Maxime Le vine, Philip Gariepuy, Pierre Paren tewu, Albert Monkawma, David Paren tewn, Fred Sadler, Baptize Vandiel, Pierre Henry, Moise Ouilette, Pierre Garnpy, La Barbarbe (interpreter), A. Labondaire, and three others. Several prisoner, against whom the Crown has the change of weirder would have been glad to have cut in their lot with the treagme felony batch, but the representatives of the Crown are determined t make an example of those who are guilty of weirder.
