McNeill»a promising young lawyer of Florence, accompanied by .several friends, van down to (ho seashore for a week’s re-erention. One of their number, under the »ow tie plume ol “Iota” sends to the Pee Dee Index the following sketch of their pleasant experiences:“A party of ladies and gentleYnen left Florence on .Inly the 3rd lor Magnolia Beach, Georgetown County, to spend some time at that delightfulseaside retreat. Your correspondent bad the pleasure of being one of thenumber and can testify to a very pleasant sojourn of near two weeks. This beach is situated about 4 miles fromLau rel Hill, a steam boat landing on theVYnccamaw River, and possesses finefishing grounds and a beautiful strand.Our chief sport was fishing and surf bathing the character of which amusement is only fully appreciated by those who have experienced it. But these arc not the only attractions. We who are accustomed to spend our summer holidays “among the pines” cannot forget the benefits emanating from the “pleasant sea breezes which forever fan the summer day,” neither can weforget the pleasant impressions madeupon our minds at beholding the grandeur of arch a wonderful exhibition of Cod's power :“Beautiful, sublime, mid glorious;Mild, majestic, foamiug free,—Over time itself victorious,Image of eternity.”Certainly it is delightful, as well as healthful, to spend a part of the summer, at least, on the Atlantic Coast, and we do not know of a more inviting location than Magnolia Beach.There are four or live families now summering at that place. Capt. II. L. Buck and family, of Horry, !iel}edtooomposc our party and were certainly pleasant additions. The propriety of organizing a joint stock company with the view of building a summer hotel at this place is now being discussed. The beautiful location, with the advantages above mentionod, together with tho present facilities of travel on the cars and steamboat, aie coitainly arguments in favor of such an enterprise, and we hope that the matter may meet the sanction of the people and that ere long a comfortable hotel will be erected on tho Coast of Eastern Carolina.
