—We imderstancl a gentleman in El Faso has received a letter from Ft Stockton in-i • * 1 ’iMairhg that Jesse Evans hud takoil a ohange of venue. Tt i s said' the : letter states 'that Evans committed some crime and escaped, mid the-sheriff' started5 in pursuit saying he would either ' bring- him back or kill him, and that in a short time he returned with Evans’ pistol and horse and refused to give any information about the result. Part of the story is corroborated by a dispatch received . from Stockton some days ago by sheriff CiuiifFe lolling him that Evans was under arrest there and asking if he was wanted here. The matter was referred to Governor Wallace. If the story of Evans’ death is true, he must have escaped from prison and I have been killed in the effort to recapture him. If true, it will save Lincoln county some ex-i pense and justice the shame of a n o t he r j n d i c in 1 fa roe.
