Hollenbeck, who’s missed going to only one county fair since 1925 (the year her daughter was born), won the best-of-show award for her handmade quilt. A retired school teacher and the first woman elected to the fair board, Hollenbeck praised this year’s open class canning display. ‘We just have an outstanding can ning display,’ she said. ‘It’s the most excellent quality we've ever had.” Hollenbeck — the fair board named the display hall after her last year — said that the number of en tries in this year’s open show was about equal to last year. The number of canning, baked goods and sewing entries ‘‘were up considerably,’”’ with entries down in the ceramics and quilting catego ries.
