Mr. and Mrs. James R. Galla gher, pioneer residents of Port Angeles, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday and were honored at parties Satur day. The Gallaghers renewed their Marriage vows at a nuptial anni versary Mass at Queen of Angels Church Saturday morning. The Rev. Clement Pangratz officiated. Altar boys were two of the Gal lagher’s grandsons Mark Gallagh er and Gregory Anderson. Baskets of white and gold chrysanthe mutts with gold leaves decorated the sanctuary. Following the Mass, approxi mately 30 friends and relatives honored the Gallaghers with an anniversary breakfast at Harring ton’s. Centering the head table was an arrangement of white gladioli, chrysanthemums and lilies. Saturday evening the Gallagh ers were honored by the family and close friends, and presented a gift from the group, at a golden anniversary dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Gallagh er, Irma Gallou and James R. Gal lagher were married in Seattle g. 8, 1908, and came to Port Ali “es to make their home. Gal lagher served as Clallam County sheriff from 1911 through 1914 and was district two road supervisor 16 years. He was deputy sheriff several years and a member of the Port Angeles Police Depart ment 15 years, retiring as captain in 1950. Gallagher was born in Pestigo, Wis., and came west with his par ents and sister in 1889, the year of the Seattle fire. The family came to the Olympic Peninsula, landing at Freshwater Bay in an Indian canoe. They homesteaded at Freshwater Bay. Gallagher re mained there until his marriage in 1908. Mrs. Gallagher was born in Ford River, Mich., coming west with her family in 1898. The Gal laghers had eight children, seven of whom are living. They have 22 grandchildren. Their sons and daughters are Mrs. R. L. (Adrienne) Anderson, Maurice, Joseph and Stanley Gal lagher, all of Port Angeles: Mrs. Chester (Teresa) Binkie and C. R. Gallagher of Ketchikan, James R. Gallagher Jr., of Seattle and Gilbert, deceased. Here for the celebration from Seattle were James Gallagher Jr. Mrs. Gallagher’s brothers and sisters-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ballou and Mr. and Mrs. Leander Ballou, and her sister and broth er-in-law Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Haas, and Gallagher’s cousin Mrs. Agnes Jennings. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Binkie and daughter and son Mary and Michael came from Ketchikan and Mrs. Gilbert Gallagher and children Carolyn, Mark and Jeanne, from Everett.
