The Webber hospital auxiliary is sponsoring an art exhibit at the Colony hotel, Kennebunkport, on August 19 from 2 p. m. to 8:30 p. m. John Laurent, painting and drawing instructor in the Depart ment of Architecture at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, will be the featured artist. Laurent, repre sented in many private collec tions,has won numerous awards and has exhibited in such places as the Boston Museum, John Her ron Museum,Indianapolis, Ind., and the Eastern College Art Asso ciation. Also exhibiting will be Royal Lewando, David Von Schlegell, Antonio Mattei, Robert Verrier, Sr., and Ada Williamson. Among artists from this area taking part are Frank Handlen, Biddeford Pool; Wilfrid Buck, Saco; Joseph Arentz, Kennebunk; Edith Barry, Kennebunk; Arthur Chrisp, Fortunes Rocks, Edna Perkins, Kennebunk Beach. Artists from Kennebunkport, who will submit work, include, Tom Powell, Roger Deering, Wil liam Fisher, Edward Mayo, Charles Rees, William Gillette, Henry Gunzelmann, Peggy Shields, and Margarite Ridlon. The proceeds from the affair will be used for the Webber hos pital free-bed fund and the pur chase of new equipment. Mrs. Richard Murphy and Mrs. J. Edward Whelan are co-chair man of the event.
