American Legion New Building Post No. 40Architectural sketch of the new home of Tilden White Post No. 40, American Legion, Department of Arizona which is being erected at Third Street and Henshaw Road, at a cost of sixteen thousand dollars.The building will provide space for club rooms, meeting hall, lounge and bar, office, cloak room, storage rooms, and a snack bar.This building is smaller than desired but is being erected on a plan which will allow expansion at a future date.In addition to the comfort and pleasure the building will provide, it is hoped that it will serve as a stimulator in creating new interest in the Legion work by its members, Commander Ricks said. At the same time, inducive to eligible vets to join and help carry out the Legionprogram of service to veteran rehabilitation and child welfare. This is also urged by the president of the Auxiliary, Mrs. Orean Coleman.The contract was let to Williams and Jones Contracting Co., 24th Street and Broadway. The building committees had splendid cooperation from the contractors in working out the floor plans and details of the building; without it thesuccess of this project would not be possible.The building is expected to be ready for occupancy not later than November 1. Announcements to this effect will be made at a later date. All veterans of both wars who are not Legionaires are urged to join now.C. C.
