Alexander Halliday IThe death occurred In the cityThursday night of one of the first! pioneers of the Gilbert Plains dia-t trict. Alexander Halliday. aged 77 year*, who settled at Mekewin as long ago as 1873 The late Mr. Halliday was born in Sea forth. Ont.. and received his '‘duration at Brussels, at which place his father was the first resident. Deceased was a member of rh** LO l- at Keyes. Man . and of the Royal Black Preceptorv, Gladstone, 731 His wife died some years ago. and he '.s survived by three sons Thomas. Quill I-ake. and Alex and Sam at home; also three sisters. Mis. E C. Sherman. Chirago; Mrs. C. B. McNicol. Mount Vernon. Wash.; Mrs. J Kilgour. Windsor. Ont. S I. Halliday. of 724 Eighth street, is a brother. lie will accompany the remains to Keyes Saturday morning, where they are being sent by Campbell. Fer-giisson and Wright, and the funeral is to be held there tomorrow afternoon.
