Plymouth county 4-Hers gathered in the Hall of '76 Wednesday afternoon to present a fashion revue and style show. During the 45-minute show the latest fashions in the area were on display. Jean Barker, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Norman Barker, Ireton, won top honors, and Janet Kenkel placed second. They both are senior 4-H mem bers and constructed their garments. Mark Holck won grand champion honors in the boys’ clothing selection division, and Bryan Postma received reserve. In the senior selected division, Cheryl Freking was the grand champion, and Lori Heeren was the reserve champion. Susy Vander Melen and Jacki Kovarna were the grand champions in the intermediate division, constructed and selected divisions respectively. Jennifer Roble was second in the con struction class, and Jolynn Harpenau was second in the selected class. Lori Less won the purple ribbon in the constructed junior class, as did Krista Heeren in the selected class, and Jean Harpenau won that honor in the selected division. . 00 | Jean Barker is prepared for college at Iowa State university with her jump suit and blazer outfit. The top stitched jumpsuit had a front zipper, buckled back tabs and western style front. The unlined jacket had front button closing, pocket flaps and set in sleeves with buttons. Jean accented her natural coloring with a blue cotton and polyester blend and accessorized the suit with a floral printed shirt and a matching purse. 00 Mark Holeck picked a 3-piece rust leisure suit to wear to church and im portant school activities to model. He likes the rust color because he thinks it complements his hair and complexion. His light shirt had the colors of this suit. He wore a plain gold necklace. 00 Chevy! Freking chose an elegant light yellow floor-length dress. It featured a princess style waistline and key-hole neckline opening. The yellow, orange and green cape added the right splash of color. In her hair, she wore a yellow silk rose and white sandals complete her outfit. With Cheryl’s dark hair, yellow seems to be the color for her. 00 Susy Vander Melen constructed a yellow cotton polyester pant skirt and matching vest. The pant skirt featured a front zipper and button waistband, while the top-stitched vest featured wooden buttons, on the front closing. Susy had purchased a striped cotton blouse to finish her sporty look. She says she'll wear her outfit to school and to church plus any other special oc casions. 00 Jackie Kovarna is ready for those cool days and evenings in a sporty 3-piece outfit. The kelly green and white plaid jacket had a hood and drawstring ties popular this season. Her green slacks had an elastic waist band. A white T-top accented with green stitching looked good with the slacks. 00 Lori Less is ready for school or church in the cool striped green T-shirt and matching plain green flared skirt she constructed. Lori thinks the green looks nice with her blonde hair and fair skin. She wore a simple opal necklace to compliment the neckline. This outfit is easy to care for and will be ready on many school occasions. Do What's red and green and plaid all over? Great Scots. Janet Kenkel went plaid mad because she wanted to look her best in a 2-piece fitted vest and flared skirt which she constructed. The bias-cut applied lapels, pockets, and capped sleeves along with overall trim of top-stitching accented the vest. The classic boot length skirt was tailored with front button closing and a mock fly zipper. Jane layered her ensemble by wearing a green turtleneck sweater. 00 A washable blue polyester suit was chosen by Bryan Postma. The suit featured a vest that can be worn with a casual shirt or with a dress shirt and tie. The slim styling of the suit was per fect for Bryan’s body. build and blue complimented his ne eves. Lori Heeren’s semi-fitted jacket and straight skirt were of polyester pgar badine. The jacket featured a front but toned closing, epaulets at the shoulder, patch and bellowed pockets with but toned flaps, back yoke and a self belt with purchased D rings. The skirt was below mid-knee length with a shaped, wrapped waistband, extending into self tabs and D-rings. The polyester-cotton shirt was red and white striped as was a bracelet. Other accessories were red shoes and barrettes. . 00 Stylish and smart, gauchos were paraded. Jennifer Roble was on the fashion band wagon with her 2-piece cotton polyester ensemble. The gaucho’s pockets were top stitched in white. The top featured pockets and cap type sleeves which were also top stit ched. Her choice of red, white and blue buttons set off the front button closing. Jennifer had purchased a blouse to compliment her outfit. 00 Jolynn Harpenau is ready for basket ball games in her blue denim jeans and matching vest. White top stitching highlighted her outfit. She chose a blue Holly Hobbie patchwork print blouse to accent her vest and jeans. The blue color tone complimented her blonde hair and blue eyes. 00 Linda Utech likes red, and what bet ter way to show it than in the one piece jumpsuit which she constructed. It featured front’ zipper, roll-up sleeves with button tabs, belted waist and a belt buckle to match the buttons on the sleeve tabs. This winter Linda plans to give her outfit a new look occasionally by wearing a black turtleneck sweater underneath the jumpsuit. 00 Ready for cooler days is Jean Har penau,* who selected an aqua blue layered outfit. Her aqua pants and shirt were complimented by an off white sweater with orange and aqua stripes. This easy care outfit will be cute and comfortable to wear for almost any oc casion, 00 Music for the fashion and style show was provided by Parkinson’s Music, Le Mars. Narrator was Monica Berg.
