ft was apparent it must have taken many wagons with heavy loads to make such a rut. And I suppose that when the main trail got too deep, they made another and another.What did these trails mean and where did they go?I explained undoubtably it was the old stage coach line that came from Ft. Dodge, went through Old Town, past present Osgood and forded the Des Moines River just south of the Graettinger bridge. Then it coursed northwest to below Terril and on to the Spirit Lake settlement. Perhaps it went on to Jackson, Minn.
