Action Proves Rough At Rodeo Held Saturday Nite In NederlandThe action was Just as rough, and the bumps just as hard for the youngsters in the •Little Britches’ rodeo Saturday night at the Sheriff's Posse arena In Nederland as on the big time rodeo circuit— if you ask some of those youngsters who were thrown!The arena was muddy from recent rains, but the rodeo went on, and everyone enjoyed the well-organized e-vent sponsored for the first time by the area 4-H club.Although the animals and the riders were in miniature, the action w*as big as life, and everyone participating in the event is looking forward to next year.Winners of the events were: In bareback riding, Bill Fisher of Hamshire-Fannett was first; Larry LoBue of Amelia, second; and Tommy Schroeder also of Amelia, third. Rod Alvarez of the Mid-county 4-H club took the junior breakaway roping title followed by Ray Chasson of Hamshire-Fannett and Jackie Hawley of A-melia.Winners in the tie-down were Ronnie Schroeder, A-melia, first place; BubbaSchroeder, Amelia, second; and Kenneth Parmley, Mid-county, third, Rosemary Watson of Amelia won the junior barrel race with Laura Lee Cole of Kountze in second place and Rod Alvarez of Mid-County in Third place.First place in senior barrel racing went to Kyle Stephenson of South Park followed by Barbara Wingate of Hamshire-Fannett and Lenette Blackmon of Voth. Junior goat tying winners were Cindy Rai-nay, Hamshire-Fannett, first;' Pam Tullos, Winnie, second; and Kathy Mooney, Winnie, third.Sandra Ross of Mid-county copped the senior goat tying title ahead of second place Patty McKenzie of Hamshire-Fannett and third place Jocelyn Naugle of Mid-county. Taking first place in the Junior pole bending event was Rudy Ebner of Orange with Rod Alvarez of Mid-county second and Laura Lee Cole of Kountze third.Lucy Orgain of Voth won the senior pole bending event as Kyle Stephenson of South Park finished second and Prentis Cam mack of Bevil Oaks third.Taking the top three positions in senior steer riging were Jack Townsend of A-melia, Ronnie Schroeder of Amelia and John GloreofVoth, respectively. Larry LoBue of Amelia was the Junior steer riding champion with Bill Fisher of Hamshire-Fannett second and Travis Hudson third.Highlight of the evening was the crowning of Lenette Blackmon of Voth as rodeo queen. Other titles awarded were E-mily Gunn of South Park, hard-luck cowgirl; Danny Spurlock of Mid-county, hardluck cowboy; Laura Lee Cole|B Kountze, sportsmanship^ girls; and Ray Chasson of Hamshire-Fannett, sportsmanship, boys.Also Laura Lee Cole of Kountze, Junior all around cowgirl; Rod Alvarez of Mid-County, junior all around cowboy; Kyle Stephenson of South Park, senior all around cowgirl; and Ronnie Schroeder of Amelia, senior all around cowboy.The first place award for selling the most tickets went to Sherly Ellerbee of Mid-county for 89 With second place going to Steve Hodges of Hamshire-Fannett for 85 tickets.
