OVERHEARD While in a local store the other day the following con versation was overheard by this deponet. After a young mother had doubtful examined a structural toy, “Isn't this rather complicat ed for a small child?” she asked. “It's an educational toy, madam,” replied the salesman, “designed to prepare a child for the world of today. Anyway he puts it together it's wrong. B ®. Miss Cora Terry of Dallas arrived Monday and is the guest of Mrs. J. W. Terry. = Mr. and Mrs. John Lockhart and Miss Eloise Harris of Gal veston were here for the week end visiting relatives. _ Mrs. J. W. Terry spent sev eral days in Yousen last week with Mr. and Mrs Patrick Fa hey - Mrs. Hubert Logan has re turned to her home in Yacdkin ville, North Carolina after vi siting Mrs. J. W. Terry. @ Mrs. Jack Matthews and daughter of Nacogdoches are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Bostwick in their home on the Anderson highway. @ Mr. and Mrs. Jack Haney of Houston and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Voelter of Sugarland were visitors in the L. T. Haney home for the week-end. ^ Miss Grace Moore let Mon day for Austin where she spent several days. Mr. and Mrs. J. Osborn Johnson and family of Houston, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Stoneham and son, Tommy, and Mrs. C. C. Short of San Antonio were guests, Sunday in the home of Dr. and Mrs. R. A. Johnson. According to Holloway, the Bryan Farmers will travel to Austin Sunday, Aug. 14, where they will compete in a tourney at the Tower Bowling Lanes for first prize money amounting to $150. _ Mrs. Wayne Denker, Paula and Bill returned Saturday from a two-week trip to Illinois where they visited relatives. _ Mrs. John King and Miss Anabelle Farquhar have return ed from Flint, Michigan where they have been visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kennard. — Mr. and Mrs. Sam Byerly of Bellville. Mrs. Joe McCue and three children of Shrevesport, Louisiana were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Farqu har. _ Mrs. Bowden Anderson, Mrs. Pearl Meekins, Mrs. P. M. King and Miss Trannie Francklow were in Houston Monday and Tuesday for a showing of Ben Hur and to attend a program of talented members of the Lawr ence Welk Show given at the Music Hall Miss Bess Johnson returned home Saturday after visiting re latives in San Antonio and Austin. Joe Wolk spent Sunday in Houston with relatives. = Miss Eugenia West spent the week-end in Beaumont with friends. ~ The Rev. and Mrs. W. RB. Miller of San Antonio have been visiting friends. The Rev.
