Vi:itV L.M SI AL CASE.Monday as a young lady visitor in town was about to enter the front gate at the home of her uncle, Al. Itiste, living on north Main street, a stranger in a car drove up to the curb, got out and impudently asked her to take a ride. The lady rushed into the house and informed her uncle of the bold affront. With much presence of mind, although wrought up by the insulting action of the autoist, Mr. Itiste stepped out of the door and was able to secure the number of the car. He at once notified Marshal Weldon of the incident and also that the man had beaded north. The officer, accompanied by Town Clerk Hoose and Provincial Policeman Lakeland, who happened to he in town at the time, at once drove to the cabins on Osoyoos lake where beer is dispensed and ttyere found the car. Officer Lakeland went into one of the buildings and found the owner of the car asleep. He aroused the man with no gentle touch and ordered him hack across the line. As soon as he crossed into Washington Marshal Weldon arrested him. He gave his name as N. 1). Johnson, and was representing the Bowen Milk company of Spokane. He was taken before Justice Beale wiio placed him under a cash bond of $50 for appearance at trial. Johnson forfeited bis bond, which was a wise precaution on his part as he would have been touched the limit of the law.The only excuse Johnson gave for addressing the lady was that he thought she was walking in the direction he was driving and he only wanted to give her a ride to her destination.
