THE EVENT OF THE SEASON.Grand Concert and Ball to be givenby theMESA CITY BRASS BAND,Friday Night, Aug. 18 at Co-op. Hall*The Mesa brass band has secured• *the Co-op. hall for the purpose ofgiving an entertainment and ball, the* • *_'» * m * *proceeds to go towards the support of the band. One of the features of the the entertainment will be the cake walk and the more participants the more fun. Everybody should enterthe contest for which a prize will begiven to the best couple, judges to be selected by the people in attendance. Tempo and Pheonix people will be assured of a good time.If you do not dance, remember the other features of the entertainment^ and what is better still, “Rememberthe Bund.”The organization of the Mesa brass and is complete and under the lead-4jrship of Prof. Oman has made splen-lid progress. The concerts given thus9ar have been attended by large and j ippreciatiye audiences and have ad-led very materially as a spcial feature0 the city. The individual members )f tlje band are paying for their in-jtruption and music, and are devoting1 great deal of their time to practic-ng. It one stops to consider the justice of this it will be readily seen that it is not just as it should be. It ,s perfectly light and proppr that the loys should have shown the public just what they have shown them, and that they really mean business. Mesac *must have a band, and the public must expect to help the boys out and aot expect them to give their time,9labor and money to the publip gratis, ft is not business and cannot be expected to stand the test. The matter lias reached the stage when the question: “Is Mesa to have a band?” arises ind must be disposed of one way or the other. Certainly the matter cannot be dropped without an expressionProm the public. Let all show a little interert and if a few pennies cannot be subscribed, show some interest and willingness to help the matter jut in some other beneficial way. The band will give an entertainment verysoon, and one that will be worthy of the patronage of all.
