The Entertainment That In Heing ~n at Camp Ramsey. ive The people of this town will have to be stow something more tangible than good will on the enterprise that the member of the Ladies’ Aid societies and the Sons of Veter ans have promoted for the benefit of the Twelfth and iee regiments, Minneota Volunteers, if there are to be satisfactory re sults. The attendance last night at the open air entertainment at Camp Ramsey was ex tremely thin. There was very no excuse for the lack of attendance, for it was a delightful evening and one could not have found a better place to spend a few hours than in the bril liantly sighted grounds, at the entrance to the fair grounds. At a distances the entranece to the camp presented a fair fire, scene, thousands of Chinese lanterns bans ‘strung from the trees and some dozens of mmarquees beinght up. In the enclosure that was used last week for the theatrical performance a company of colored amateurs from Minneapolis entertain ed the visitors with singing and derby min istrelsy. The Postoffice band and Hendrick’s Drum corps furnished music on the penen ade. Everything was satisfactory, but the at tendance. There were scarcely a hundred peo ple in the grounds with the exception of the soldiers, who enjoyed the show as though they thought that they were getting all they were ever likely to get out of the entertainment Alongth sides of the promenade the same booths, with the same ladies in charge, were waiting for business that came no more than t did during te rainy nights of last week. The entertainment in the enclosure was under the direction of Rev. W. 8. Brooks, of the A. M. E. church, of Minneapolis. Of a stage the young men of his aggregation sang songs and told funny stories, gave character recitations and did some very clever dancing and were properly applauded by the sellers. The performers included Harvey Holmes, J.T. Young, Isaac Jenkins, Louis White, Samuel Burton, Shirley Tyler, William Paris, John English and Silas Watson. The ladies’ committee having the manage ment of the affair have worked very hard for success, and they hope that this evening the people of St. Paul will respond to the invi tation that is offered to lend their presence to the entertainment. Mrs. Hartman, for the committee, said last night that this evening the Fifteenth Regiment band would be in at tendance, and that several organizations had promised their presence, ns with Mrs. Hartman on the committee are Miss Lightner, Miss Grace Scott, Mrs. Sylvia Crego and the Misses Rose, Thurselda and Emma Schiiff mann.
