MILLERSBURG DOINGS.In the death of Mr. Philo Starks, on Thursday of last week, this community loses one of its earliest and best citizens. Mr. Starks had passed a half century of his life on the farm which one of his ancestors had pre-empted away back in the 30’s. He came here when this now prosperous and thickly populated country was one vast wilderness. Here then, the wild game roamed the forests o’er; neighbors were scarce and prized for their real worth. At that time a neighbor within five miles of another was close. Here he had lived to see the steel rails laid, binding the lake at Chicago to thelake at Toledo, The whistle of the Iron Horse awoke the solitude of the wilderness and the influx of new comers soon changed this desolation into bright and prosperous homes. Mr. Starks had past the 73d mile post upon his life’s journey. He leaves several sons and daughters to mourn the loss of a kind father. Mr. Sam Gangwer
