The City Schools.The long summer vacation of our public schools is drawing to a close, and the teachers and pupils will soon be busily engaged at tbcirfall and winter work. In the Second District the reduction is nearly 20 per cent, while in the Third about the same reduction lias been made within the last two years. We sup-)ose the wages in all the schools are now about 20 percent less than two years ago. The North Side pays the principal $1300 per year, and the assistants: $30; per month; The assistants are All residents of this'district and we believe graduates of the school.' The East Side pays the wind pal $1000 per year. and. the assist-, ants $35, m, -$45, and $50 per month. The West Side salaries are-$1500 ; per year for the principal aiul $40, $45 :and $50 per month for the assistants according to. their experience and the positions they Occupy,j*
