rkllyau I Scouts Thrive at Camp EastmanMr. Orval Nesbitt, Chairman of the Camping and * Activities Committee of the Southeast Iowa Council, Boy Scouts of America has announced that 446 different 8 Scouts attended the five weeks of r* camping at Camp Eastman during 8 the 1950 season. This represents 10 a 34% increase over the previous year. Thirty-nine troops and one Explorer unit was represented in this attendance., I One of the most succesf ulphases of the camp program was I the Scoutcraft activities throughwhich nearly every Scout camper made progress in completing .. | requirements for his next Boy1 I Scout rank. Leaders attendingcamp with their troops were en-. thusiastic about the Scoutcraftle Iprogram.About the top feature of campagain was eating. Each camperdrank an average of 7 quarts of m. milk per week and in spite of thefht fact that it is sometimes im-rn- possible to satisfy a Boy Scouts p]y. eating desires, records of the final week of camp indicate thatthe average weight gain perly camper was 3.8 lbs.R Additional activities scheduled it for Camp Eastman this fall include a Dad-Lad weekend for Cub a- I Scouts and their dads on August R- 119 and 20, Order of Arrow Ceremonies early in September and Fall Kick-off for all Scooters on to I September 17 and training courses cco I and Troop activities throughout the fall and winter months.
