The { editors had headquarters at the Hotel . Orleans, and were looked after with ; ah eagle eye by Senator Funk, who , left nothing undone to make ‘ their stay pleasant. The principal ■ address was given Friday evening by , j. Fred Meyers, the veteran editor of ( the Denison Review, and Ills topic f was “The Ideal Editor.'’ Friday afternoon the entire editorial party went down to Arnold's Park and visited all the. points of interest on. West Okoboji. The Manhattan Beach Company furnished their steamer for the party free of charge. The businessmen of. Spirit Lake tendered the 4 editors a banquet at tbe Orleans rFriday evening, which was served in a manner that reflected great credit upon the management of that sum- 1 mer resort hotel. Everything that could be wished for was upon the bill 1 of fare, with the exception of wine, and we understand that the management offered to serve wine, but that ' Senator Funk insisted that it would never do, that while Al. Adams, and possibly one or two others, would have no conscientious scruples about 1 sitting down to a banquet table at which wine was to be served, there ■ would be those present who would. It 1 was too bad that the wine was cut off. 1 The lakes.are having a good run this ■ season. The Orleans- is doing a nice lt;business and at Arnold’s Park they i seem to becoming and going all the • time, A larger number of cottages 1 have been built this season than in any one season before. Owing to the 1 long continued dry spell the lakes are about three feet lower than were ever 1 known. East Okoboji is so shallow that the smallest boats have great difficulty in getting from Arnold's Park to the Orleans. Manhattan, on West Okoboji, is one of the most popular resorts about the lakes.
