Hamilton, bookkeeper at .fclieFarmers’Bank, had left for parts un-lt; / v •known, taking with Ifim about §2,700 belonging to the bank. Since Mr. Stiekney, the cashier, has been absent George has been iu charge of the bank a considerable portion of the time. Tuesday afternoon Mr. Holgate was kept at home with a sick headache and when he went to the bank yesterday morning he found it closed, but on opening the door he found every tiling apparently all right until he opened the safe, when he discovered that a xile of gold and currency amounting to about $2,700 was missing. The services of Sheriff Adams who was in town, were* called into requisition, but up to last night no clue hud been obtained of the whereabouts of the absconding clerk. Young Hamilton was always considered one ol the most honest and trustworthy young men in Wyoming. He left a letter to Mr. Holgate saying he hopedftto repay tho loss sometime. Further developments will be anxiously look for-Cashier Stiekney was telegraphed for and will probably arrive home to-day.
