In a setting of branch candelabra and baskets of roses and mums at the First Christian Church in Beckley, Miss Pamela Sue White and Jeffrey Donald McClung pledged wedding vows on Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. The service was performed by Rev. Russell Smith. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Lillie Mae White of Princeton and the late Lawrence B. White. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack D. McClung of Beckley. Music for the wedding was provided by Miss Alice Williams, cousin of the bride, of Orlando, Fla., on the organ. Vocalist and guitarist was Tim Connelly of Princeton. The bride was escorted by her brother, Lawrence D. White of Knoxville, Tenn., and given in marriage by her mother and brother. She wore a formal gown of white silk organza. The empire bodice was trimmed with chantilly lace and seed pearls. The mandarin collar was of chantilly lace. A matching lace ruffle outlined an inset of organza on the bodice. The full bishop sleeves ended in chantilly lace cuffs. The A-line skirt, which ended in a chapel train, featured a ruffled back of organza with chantilly lace border. She wore a matching hat and carried a petite round bouquet of white mums, yellow roses and baby’s breath. Mrs. Rhonda Gay White of Knoxville, sister-in-law of the bride, attended as matron of honor. She wore a yellow polyester knit gown with a flounce knit overlay to the waist, flared skirt and yellow picture hat with yellow ribbon streamers. She carried three long stem yellow silk roses surrounded by baby’s breath, greenery and yellow ribbons of love knots. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Paula Kay Wheeler, sister of the bride, of Winona Lake, Ind., Mrs. Laura Jo Carey of Princeton, Miss Ralphette Sue Epperly of Cool Ridge, and Miss Betsy Karen Cook of Oceana. They wore matching yellow polyester knit gowns with flounced overlay, ac cordion pleated skirts and yellow picture hats. Each carried a single long stem yellow rose surrounded with baby’s breath, greenery and yellow ribbon streamers. Flower girl, Patty Jo Mc Clung, sister of the bridegroom, wore a yellow short sleeved gown and pic ture hat with yellow ribbon streamers. She carried a white basket trimmed with a yellow bow. Ring bearer was Matthew Daniel McClung, the bridegroom's nephew. The father of the bridegroom served as best man. Ushers were John David McClung, Robert Denham McClung, brothers of the bridegroom; Matt Cook and Doug Thompson, all of Beckley. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church hall. The cake and punch tables were covered with white cloths and lace overlay. The four tiered cake, decorated with yellow roses and topped with white doves, was surrounded by greenery and flowers. The punch table was adorned with two floral arrangements and greenery and white mounds. Mrs. Marie Williams and Miss Alice Williams of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Thelma Massie of Beckley, and Mrs. Charlotte Jones of Princeton served at the reception. Mrs. Kenna McClung, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, kept the bridal registry. Mrs. McClung is employed by Raleigh Board of Education. Mr. McClung is employed at Central Elementary School as a physical education teacher. Following the reception, a private champagne reception for close friends and relatives was held at the home of the parents of the bridegroom.
