Delphos scored two runs in the top of the 11th inning, breaking a 141 tie, and whipped Findlay Pizza Hut 3-1 in winner’s bracket action of the Findlay Invitational baseball tournament here Sunday night. No other information was available from Findlay Coach Woody Curtis. Delphos faces the Oregon Cavaliers, 15- 0 victors over Reynolds Corners Keys, in the winner’s bracket finals at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Findlay Pizza Hut tangles with Findlay Fern Cafe at 6 p.m. today in the loser’s bracket followed by Fostoria vs. Reynolds at 8:30 p.m. Findlay Pizza Hut only got four hits in first round action Saturday but 15 walks and four wild pitches by Tim Belch were turned into a 9-2 win over Fremont Junior Knothole. Pizza Hut scored five times in the opening frame with Kurt Jefferies, Kurt Tesnow and Skip Federici loading the sacks with bases on balls. Dave Akin and Greg Wagner drew walks with one out to force in a pair of runs, Steve Dean ripped a two-run double and Denny Poling grounded out for the other tally. Tesnow and Federici walked in the second and Dave Kahle singled in a run while Mike Patterson accounted for a third inning score on a walk and three stolen bases. Kahle and Akin walked and Greg Wagner singled to load the bases in the fourth and Poling faced a two-run single to conclude the Findlay scoring. Randy Hickle hurled the victory. Findlay's other entrant in the eight team field, Fern Cafe, dropped a 6-3 decision to Reynolds Corners Keys in first round action but bounced back in the double-elimination tourney with a 10-2 victory over Fremont Junior Knothole Sunday. Ed Gatliff, who struck out seven, kept Fern Cafe alive while a three-run first inning and five runs in the fourth did most of the damage. Doug Corbin, who had three singles and two RBIs, knocked in Al Young, who had walked, with his first hit in the opening frame. Randy Smaltz singled in another run. Young walked in the second, and after moving up on catcher’s interference, scored on Corbin’s second single. Jeff Slough’s run-scoring single and a two-run sacrifice bunt by Shawn Wiseman highlighted the five-run fourth frame whelough bunted in another run in the 1fth. Randy Smaltz singled in a fifth inning run in the losing effort against Reynolds. Chuck Hall doubled and Slough singled to lead off the sixth inning before Hall scored on a wild pitch. Tim Federici and Greg S eemaker walked to load the bases and T ed Gillam was hit by a pitch for the second run of the inning. Doug Corbin had the other hit for Fern Case, a single.
