American Flag Presented For Press Support The Madison Press Company was cited for “outstanding support during the past year” at the Wed nesday night meeting of the Madi son Post 105 of The American Le gion, and Commander M. J. Cha keres presented the company with a fine American Flag complete with staff and stand. In citing the Madison Press Com pany for their outstanding support of the Legion's program during the past year, Commander Chakeres and others said the support was the best the Legion had had in their many years. A Legion member, Donald Farquhar, who had been hospitalized for several months ex pressed his appreciation to The Madison Press Company for their support of the Legion program, and said that through the newspaper he was able to keep close contact with Legion activities while forced to be away from the meetings. Everette E. Parker, Madson Press Company editor, accepted the presentation for Publisher J. R. Conway and the Madison Press Company. Commander Chakeres said the presentation was to the “entire staff of the Madison Press Company for the outstanding sup port and publicity during the past year. In so far as I know, The American Legion has had more public support through the news paper in that year than at any oth er time during the history of the Post.” Other Legion members pre sent concurred with Commander Chakeres in the opinion. In other action at the Wednes day night meeting, Commander Chakeres thanked the merchants of London and the public for support during the year for their programs. Chakeres pointed out that only ov erall support could make the Le gion program successful, and that the past year was one of the most successful in recent years. Commander Chakeres, who is finishing his tenure in office, and Commander-elect Charles Ballen ger reported to the Post on their trip to the Department Convention, and discussed some of the out standing events of the convention.
