HARRISONBURG, Va. (PF) — Three young Harrisonburg boys have been delayed in Cuba on their way to set up a temporary amateur radio station on unin nhabited Navassa Island off the coast of Haiti, , The three, Donald Miller and Robert Eshleman, both 19, and ,Carl Shenk, Jr. 18, were sched uled to begin broadcasting their hall letters, KCSAB, yesterday. But Carl's mother said her semi ‘had contacted her by short wave s radio Saturday night and informu ted her that they had been delay ed in Cuba and wouldn't reach thes island now until dawn Wed nesday. ‘The cause of the delay s could not be learned. Original plans called for the three amateur radio operators to, ‘broadcast their call letters 20 hours a day for a week. Mrs. iShenk said the delay would cut t heir time on the island to four day's. if the boys are successful in, ending messages from Navassa, ‘Island—whose rock cliffs jut 60. Meet out of the sea—the island will become the 261st “country” recognized by ham operators. _ The president and treasurer of the Amateur Radio Club of Cuba i Will join the three boys in the ‘expedition, Mrs. Shenk said, : 1
