\JUUA VSo far as known, the federal government has no agents at Oliver. A deputy sheriff is maintained there, but strong allegations are made that he is blind in one eye and cannot see out of the other.There certainly is something wrong somewhere with the county officials. Sometime ago the notorious Blanche White was wanted in Superior and a warrant was handed to Sheriff McGuire to serve on her. His deputy arrived in Oliver just half an hour after she had crossed the St. Louis river into Minnesota, someone having tipped off to her the coming of the deputy with a warrant.After a few days, old Blanche came back, but Chief Gates informed herthat the Oliver atmosphere might notprove real healthful, therefore it would be safe and wise for her to go away again and forget to come back. She took the hint, if the Rip-Saw is rightlyinformed.There were several dirty redlignt dumps before July 1, but they have almost disappeared. Ed. Bak and Ed. Murphy had a few women and some booze in those days. Blanche White had a string of four or five low moral endeavorers. Tony, on the 8outhSide, took his Theda Bara and went back to Minnesota. He and she may be in Duluth and they may be in the club house out on the Arnold road. If a Rip-Saw inspector is properly informed, it was not eo many nights ago when Tony took contraband booze from Oliver to Madam Smith in the West hotel over the Rex theater, in Duluth.
