Dallas Houston, son of Police Mag istrate D. J. Houston, was severely hurt at the Round Crest Canning company’s plant, corner of Eighth and Water streets about 10 o'clock Friday morning in consequence of becoming caught in the belting operating the machinery while employed in lifting cherries on the conveying platform. In some manner his right arm was drawn into the belt wheel and was fruitfully bruised by the pressure upon it. As soon as possible after the accident occurred the engine was stopped and relief extended to the unfortunate young man, who was powerless to remove his arm from the| uicelike grip which held it. To ex tricate him it was necessary to cut the belt, which was of heavy rubber about forty or fifty feet in length. Young Houston was taken to the hospital where an examination of his wounds were made and the injuries dressed. It was found that while the arm was badly sprained and bruised the skin was not broken, nor was the X-ray able to reveal a fracture of the bones. After having received the necessary professional attention at the hospital he was taken to his home at 204 Greenwood avenue, where he was made as comfortable as circum stances would permit. He is reported to have rested easily Friday night, faitho the injured arm was consider ably awoken and inflamed this morn ing. Another X-ray test will be made this afternoon by Dr. Holmes, the at tending physician, to ascertain def initely whether any bones were brok en or not
