TIMBER WOLVES IN ZION CITYA unique sight was witnessed at 9 o’clock Saturday morning when a team of four timber wolves in harness, attached to a vehicle, was driven through Zion City. They had no lines,-but were simply harnessed to a four-wheeled buggy which they were pulling, and were controlled simply by voice and whip.Prof. J. R. Damrel, who is in charge, said he was making a trip to New York, via the wolf team route, going from here to Chicago and then by road to New York. He is on an advertising trip for a cereal company, and whenever possible stops on the way to have congenial talk and exhibit his team and do a little advertising on the side.He started out from Minneapolis with five timber wolves, but one died at May ville. He continued his trip with four. From information we glean from him he took two dens of wolves in Ashland county, northern Wisconsin, near Lake Superior, five in each den, and has trained these wolves to draw in harness and obey the word of command. They seem tractable and allow handling and patting. It was a unique sight to see this timber wolf team drive through the city, and it attracted quite a large crowd as the dogs rested near the fire station. They can travel as fast as a •horse, and will go forty or fifty miles a day.
