GORDON TO MAKE ADDRESSlie Gallant Confederate General to Deliver Oration at the Dedication of The Winnie Davis Memorial Hall in October, and Members of Genera! Assembly Will be Invited Here.The fund for the Winnie Dam Me* mor 1 Hall baring been practically completed, and the plans for the 'build* ipg having been accepted, .with the nr* raugemoat of a few minor debale, work on the struct a re will begin within the next few week*.As 1. generally known, the Winnie Davis Memorial Hall will be erected on thlt; premises of the State Normal school, iu tbi city, by the Georgia Diruion of the Daughters of the Confederacy. A fuud of $^0,000 including $4,500 gifen by the Southern Education Board, has been raised by popular inbecripMon, nearly every obapter of the Daughters of the Confeder cy in Georgia contribu ting to the fond. . r Mr Choate, the architect whose pin s for the bnilding hare been accepted, an non nee that evtrythtig will be in readiness for the laying of the cornerstone of the bnilding during the month of Ootobor. An extensive prcgrom will be arr nglt;*d for this oc.asion.John R. Gordon will be innttd to bo the orator of tho occasion, and ho will deliver an apprepria* address on the dedication of the bnilding to the memo ry of the beloved daughter of the Chief tain of the C ntedenoy. In addition to the address by General Gordon oih r prominent Confederate eoldixsrs will be present and participate in the program,os rill as proa in not sons and daughters of Confederate soldiers. At tho same tinea the General Assembly of Georgia, then in session, will be invited to be present at the dedication ceremonies, and it is more than probable that the invitation will be accepted, and the members of the General Assembly at* tend in a body.The Winnie Davis Memorial Hall will be a tbreo story building of ooloninl irohlteotnre, portions of which will be osrd as dormitory for the stationts of the State Normal School. It Is thought that the bnilding wiU be ready for occupancy by August of next year when the s«sion of the Normal Sohool will blt; gin. Tue first floor of tho building will contain a large reception ball, i large read* lag room and moms for the Yoaag Women's Christian Association. Other rooms on tbit floor will fee used » bed rooms for young womon The i cond floor will oontain bed rooms, and in* flrcu 7, matron'o room and bath rooms. The entire third floor will he taken-np by bed rooms. All the roomsand their: rqaipment Will bo of such a cl a rooter as to reader them as muchlike a oomfort ibis and w 11 arranged homo as possible, it being the idea of the Daughters of the Confederacy to elevate m the minds of the youug wotr n at* tending there the ideals of home life.
