Tyndall’s new skeet range ground breaking ceremony will be held at 2 p.m., today, on Beacon Beach Road next to the rifle range. The new range will be open to active duty and retired military, and Department of Defense civilians. Participants may bring their own guns and ammunition with a small fee charged for use of the range. Guns will be furnished free providing the ammunition is pur chased at the range for a nominal price, according to Bob Subera, Morale, Welfare and Recreation programmer. “The Panama City area has never had a skeet range, thus MWR officials thought it would be nice to have one at Tyndall. There are a lot of other bases that have them also,”’ Mr. Subera said. “The Air Force has a skeet team, which opens up the possibil ities of Tyndall hosting skeet tour naments or maybe even having a Tyndall member on the team,”’ he added Classes on how to reload shells will be offered and skeet equi pent sold at the facility. Aab house is to be built at a later date, however, in the meantime a trail er will serve as the clubhouse. There will be parking for about 50 to 60 vehicles. The range will have two Win chester automatic skeet throwers and one trap. “‘Actual completion is not known, but as the ‘‘pull’”’ time nears, it will be publicized,” Mr. Subera said.
