LONDON, July 16— During the wreek-end a confer ence on the Negro in the World to day took place at the Memorial Hall, Farringdon Street, and was a great success. It was opened by Dr. Harold Moody, the well-known President of the League of Coloured Peo ples, the Fist speakers being Lady Procter, C.B., Chairman of the Overseas Committee of the Y.W. C.A., and Mr. K. A. Korsah, a member of the Gold Coast Dele gation visiting London in connec tion with certain local constitution al problems, who urged both pa tience and perseverance in working for the improvement of the racial position. Mr. J. Fletcher of the Friends Service Council and Mr. J. A. Barbour James of the African Pro gress Union brought greetings from their respective bodies, and among the principal speakers on the Neg ro in Africa were Mr. F. S. Livie- Noble, and the Rev. Aldous (on South Africa), Mr . Johnstone Kenyetta (on East Africa) and Messrs Odunsi and Stephen Thomas (on West Africa), while valuable contributions to the ensuing discus sion was made by members from all parts of the world. The difficulties of the Negro as cathedral wherein the new Bishop will make his profession of faith to the Archbishop and be enthron ed as Vicar of his new diocese. The event will be surrounded with all possible pomp and dignity, cul minating in a solemn high mass and benediction, the Bishop bless ing the members of his new con gregation.”
