OKOBQJL from our vrar correspondent,Mashattex Beach, ■Company E, thirty-eeven strong, left Perkins via the Sioux City Kotthem at 7:20 last Saturday morning, with Capt.*D.-;UL Odle in command.j Companies Hand Li, and the Regimental Band, all of Sioux City, were also aboard. At Hester, the cars were transferred to the Burlington track and the “boys in-blue7’ went on a special train for the remainder^.:pf the distance, passing through Rock Rapids, Sibley, etc. About a mile and a half from the head of lake West Okoboji, the train was stopped and bovs; aml baggage ordered .out,' After aomarch of a mile and a halt, up hill: and down, beneath ah extremely warm sun, the boys arrived at Orescent Beach, where steamboats .were, in waiting, ready to transport them to Manhatten Beach. All the blue coats, botti officers and men, ware satisfied with this first experience of a good maich. Prom Cres . cent Beach to Manhatten Beach, the ride-was truly a delightful one, the band playing several selections during the three mile ride. On the way down, Company E'hoys were gratified and made welcome by the sight of .MeS’ dames J. Wilson and Jk 1). Phelps, who were enjoying a trip bn'one of the sail boats. „„ Arriving at Manhatten Beach, the boys were disembarked and marched ■_ about three-quarters of a mile southwest to a hilly spot of prairie land on which were gleaming the white tents of the general officers (Companies had to erect their own tents.) By this time it was noon, and the boys were hungry. After two hours of work getting tents up, tables fixed, and ’ cooking, we sat down to dinner. In the afternoon, at 4:00 o’clock, our boys, under command of Col. Reddy Phelps, donned their bathing outfits and matched down to Mam batten Beach, much to the amusement, of tne entire regiment and the bon~ tons at the Beach* ■' All the boys tried the toboggan and bad an hour of fun. At 0:30 the Regiment had undress parade. Sunday,-at 11:00 o’clock, ser-| vices wore conducted by the Chaplain J the remainder of the day being spent by the boys in vigiling Arnolds Park and other places oE inierwfc- Monday morning the usual nmtino of camp life began./
