up to the Liege! farm to ask Florence on a date, we all started with Flo’sttiewave.Before they got married, Allie and Florence both worked in Spring ireen on the Evans and Peterson farms and at the Cavanaugh Lumber Dill. On Jan. 31,1940, they were united in marriage at St. Luke’s Catholic hurch in Plain. They celebrated 63 years of marriage before Florence lied on May 4, 2003. He was a devoted, lifelong member of St, Luke'slatholic Church.Allie and Florence worked together as farming partners until 1967, riving up farming after Allie was struck by lightning. Allie also worked it Badger Army Ammunition Plant and retired from the village of Plain is a maintenance worker in the days of twice-a-week garbage collection jsing a raised flatbed truck and sweeping the streets by hand.Allie and Florence spent countless days together fishing the trout itreams in Bear valley and gardening. They worked together on wood-working projects with Allie doing the cutting and sanding and Flo doing:he finishing and decorating. Flo was a great quiiter but working quietly oehind the scenes Allie was the precision cutter of the fabric squares He was known for his tree and shrub trimming expertise. Allie lived the high life by following doctor’s orders to have one beer a day, even though his first bottle always seemed to have a hole in it,Allie is survived by six children and their spouses, Edith (Richard) Hochstetter of Albany. Joanne (John) Acomb of Beloit, Alice (David) Dischier of Neshkoro, George (Jeanne) Alt of North Freedom, Margie (Jim) Ries of Belleville, and Allan (Sue) Alt of Cross Plains; a son-in-law. Richard Conway of Dodgevilie; a daughter-in-law, Carol Alt of Madtson; 27 grandchildren and their spouses; 49 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; sisters, Erna Crosby of Sauk City and Kay imberg of Sun Prairie; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Viola Paulus of Plain, Dolores Liege! of Spring Green, George (Marcie) Liegel of Plain and vern (Berme) Liege) of Spring Green; nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends, including his fellow residents at Greenway Terrace.He was preceded in death by bis parents; his wife, Florence; daughter, Mary Conway; son, Robert; infant daughter, Catherine-, a great-grand daughter, Gabnelle Prestigiacomo; a grandson-in-law, Tim Farmer; sisters, Mary (Frank) Schweitzer, Hilda Lehner, and Dorothy (John) Roth; brothers, Edward (Elsie) Alt, Andrew (Lorraine) Alt, John (Florentine) Alt. and Don Alt; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Orville Crosby, Alfred imberg, Ed (Alma) Uegei, Alfred (Bernice) Liegel. Aima (Ray) Brick!, Marian (Alvin) Layton, Edward Paulus, Florian, Victor, Joseph and Ralph Liegel.Over the years, two of Dad’s favorite meats out were a burger and a beer at Emil’s l-Diehl Tap and whatever Dorothy Shanahan was serving for a family gathering. Dad taught us many life lessons and showed us how to grow old gracefully. One of his greatest gifts to us was taking care of Mom on his own, before we realized how serious her condition was.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at ST. LUKE’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Plain. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation wilt be held on Monday, Aug. 7,2017, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at ST, LUKE’S CATHOLIC CHURCH and again on Tuesdayfrom 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Ellen Wermuth, Agrace HosptceCare for their compassionate care during the last days of Dad’s life, and most of all the staff at Greenway Terrace for filling Dad's final eight years with loving care, laughter, fun activities,great meals, and a real home environment.in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Luke’s Cemetery Fund.
