George W. Church of Capt. Pugh’s company, Fourth regiment, Illinois Volunteers, as his payment for “raising additional military force.In 1848, it was sold to Daniel Franklin, who in turn sold it in 1853 to George Goodenow, who in 1873 subdivided and recorded the village of GoodenowTHE 114-YEAR-OLD village consists of five streets and a population of about 90 people. Manv of thehouses shown in an 1873 artist’s drawing of the village still exist.The festival will include a bake sale and a food stand — both in the air-conditioned town hall. The annual flea market will feature craft items, plants, antiques, jewelry, leather crafts, furniture, clothing, oil paintings, woodcrafts, ceramics and trash and treasures.Selling space is available on a “no set up fee” with an “end of the day” donation.
