There’s no worry.”Beets entered the event two years ago, driving a 1969 Le Mans he bought for $40.“After a few hits, the engine blew,” Beets said of his brief attempt at making demolition Faderby history. 8°*You’re out there and you hit the guy,” Beets said. You’re 'tslooking around, trying to protect wiyour radiator ... I was laughing — until I got hit and stalled.”Beets spent the rest of his heat in the center of the track, too much in the middle of things to be towed to the pits.“They knew I was stalled,”Beets said of the other drivers, ]“but they slide into you. They thecan’t help it because they’re rejgetting pounded around, too.” soiBeets said the only way to get tiohurt is if there is a fire. Drivers mlt;are required to wear helmets waand safety belts.
