MRS. BARNET AMESMrs. Sarah Jane Ames, the widow of a Civil War veteran, died at her home in the Mountain District on Wednesday morning, August 3. She was born 79 years ago, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Eldridge. Her husband, Barnet Ames, who died a number of yearn ago, preached at various times In the Chapel in the Moun. ' tain. Their only daughter, Emma J. who married Charles Helms, died flf-teen years ago.• *• •During her last illness Mrs. Ames was tenderly cared for by her grand-daughter, Miss Bertha Helm*. Other 1 grandchildren are Pearl (Mrs. Fred-1 erlck 0. Miller of Providence, Rhode Island) Walter, Holliday, Sarah, Harold, Myra and Alvin Helms.Mrs. Ames was a woman of a finecharacter, always devoted to Tier family.. She was a strong Republican. The funeral will be on Friday afternoon at two o'clock in the Mountain Chapel.
