Mauldin left Pickens very much out of proportion to the] fuesday in response to a call from ‘BAG, his friend, Dr. D. L. Smith, at Newry, 8. 6, who will undergo a dalienta surgical operation as soon as he can be carried to the hospital where all Arrangements for each work are con venient. Dr. Mauldin is expected to return within a week. —F. £. Cox, who has been for the past two years with Folger Thorn- Joy, has retired and is taking a well earned rest. He will be greatly, missed by the scores of customers on whom he used to wait. The Board deduces that a small per centage of the mill operatives have is vaccinated, and that the law cannot be enforced without the co- operation of the mill managers. —Tev. J. J. Fowler, pastor, began a series of meeting at Mile Creek church on July 24th, which ran for a week, ‘Thorn was a good attendance ‘and much interest was manifested ‘throughout the entire meeting. 'There were twenty additions and the state of religion was much benefitted and strengthhened. ‘The oldest mem bers say it was the beach meeting ever held there. —Sarael Ferguson, a well-known and well-to do negro and a good citi zen of this township, has had Kimber anwad and is fixing to erect a com modious two-story dwelling on his farm one mile norh of Pickansa.
