!laSelected a VVifc byJPliotograpIi. jThere was quite a ripple of excite- JD\merit at Rat Portage, Canada, over a romantic courtship and marriage of a teRainy River settler. The groom was j RobeH Gill, the teacher of the Indian •school, and the bride Miss Emily jaiTaylor of Owen Sound. Keither of [ the contracting parties had seen the | other, but had corresponded and ex- \ changed photographs. The groom \ arrived early in the week to meet his j future wife, expecting her on Tues- \ day, but in this he was disappointed, j but on Saturday last was more success- \ ful. The train arrived at noon, and ; the citizens were aware of the ap- j proaehing meeting and turned out in large numbers to see the event. As'-;.the train drew in a trim-looking young jlady jumped off the car, and her large . dark eyes rapidly sized up the crowd i to see her loved one. Mr. Alexander j Rocking of Elm River acted as master i of ceremonies and at once took the | young bride in charge. He introduced j the pair, although he had never met | the young lady, and the groom seemed j greatly elated over the prize he had j drawn. The crowd set up a laugh and j could hardly resist a cheer when the; party marched off for a marriage 11- j cense. All the ministers in town were j down at the station, but of course none \ of them was looking for the job. At j any rate, the pair were tied fast and j hard shortly after the arrival of the ; train. 1
