The day was a beautiful one and all nature seemed to at tone wills jov. By 9 o'clock numerous carriages were swiftly rolling out into the countrYi each loaded to their fullest capacity. An hour later they pulled up at the now and beautiful cottage, just completed, aud were heartily welcomed the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cook. After an earnest social chat of an hour or so, the grove near by furnished abundant recreation for the remainder pf the forenoon. At noon a sumptuous dinner was served, and abundant display of the many good things was enough to excite the propensity of the faintest appetite. After dinner a trip to the White Rock mounds was instituted. A drive of two miles brought us to the foot of the mounds; a zigzag ascent of another (n^ilo or two and we were on top from which we had an unlimited view of the surrounding country. By the nee of our held glasses we could bring to distinct view Scan-, dja, Republic, Warwick, Hardy and Superior. That part of S.eandia situated on the hill was the plainest to the observer. Our curiosity being satisfied from this point we returned to Mr. Cook’s where the remainder of the day was passed amidst social greetings of the most entertaining spirit. As evening drew on, the company bid tidcau to their kind host and departed homeward.'
