“Funny** Swearing.There were several men pal upon the witness stand during the Fanning trial who swore they never drank in Fanning’s ^jaloon. Henry Le Pla swore these bad drank there. Then these men went upon the stand and swore they wouldn’t believe Le Pla under oath, but reputable Citizens in Joliet were brought forward who swore they had known Le Pla a | Humber of years and knew him to be a honest man, and they would believe him under oath. But it looks funny to see these men testifying so hard tor Fanning, glibly swear against Le Pla.
