Delphi-Tri Township Volunteer Firefighter Joel Wagner, left, was presented the Governor’s and Fire Marshal’s Award of Valor. The award recognized his act of heroism on May 5, 2003, when he attempted to save the life of an unconscious man found inside a burning apartment build ing in downtown Delphi. The presentation was made Monday evening by Deputy State Fire Marshal Gary Robinson, right, at the regular monthly meeting of the Delphi-Tri Township VFD. Jon Randle District 9-A Indiana Volunteer Fire Association representative and Delphi-Tri Township VFD member, was instrumental in ini tiating Wagner’s nomination. Robinson said many paid and volunteer firefighters do everyday what it requires to qualify for the award, but few are nominated. His office would like to see more individuals nominated and recog nized for their efforts. Photo provided
