The Eldena Wonder Workers 4-H Club advanced to the State Tournament at Springfield last week with a 12-7 win over Winnebago County in District Softball Play at Woodstock. The Wonder Workers, Lee County champions for three straight years, will play for the state title in late August. The District winners consist of: Harry Ringler, 1b Randy Nusbaum, cf Mike Pratt, sf Merle Bodmer, 3b Dave Book, p Jim Book, 2b Mike Bodmer, c Dean Bodmer, rf Dave Pratt, lf The reserves are: Francis Fenwick, Dick Ringler, Joe Bother, Frank McKeel, Dean Bodmer and Ed Conderman. The Eldena Wonder Worker’s girls team are also Lee County champions for 1971, their first year of competition.
