Women Included In Fair PlansA jam-packed calendar of contests and special activities for the ladies has been scheduled by die Women’s Department of the State Fair of Texas during the 1960 Diamond Jubilee Exposition, Oct. 8-23, in Dallas.Special contests offering cash awards and other valuable prizes, in addition to die traditional competitive classifications of the Women’s Department, include a Clothing Contest, Women’s Hat Contest, Photographic Contest and Yeast Baking and Cake Baking Contest.Award-winning garments in the Clothing Contest will be modeled at noon on the operv-ing day of the Fair, Oct. 8. Sept. 7 is the deadline for entries. The Hat Contest will be judged Oct. 12 and winning entries will be exhibited during the rest of the Fair. Fry. try blanks and details can be obtained from the Women's Department on request.The statewide Photographic Contest is for amateur photographers and winning pictures will be on exhibit in the Women’s Building all during the Fair. It is co-sponsored by die Dallas Camera Club. Entry deadline is Sept. 2.The Cake Baking Contest on Oct. 19 is co-sponsored by Burrus Mills, makers of Light Crust Flour. An elegant platinum necklace set with diamonds 'j the grand prise and three gold necklecee will also p be awarded. Rules and instructions will be available Sept. 1. The Yeaat Baking Contest is set for Oct. 14 and is sponsored by Fleishmana's Yeast. There is a $50 first prise and a number of other cash prizes. pA featured special event of the Diamond Jubilee Exposition will be a luncheon Oct.10 honoring visitors to the Fair during its first five years, 1886-1890. A Mexico Day reception is also scheduled on this day.Porcelain An Day at the Fair is Oct. 12; China Painting Teachers Day is Oct. IS; the State Four-H Dress Revue will be Oct.
