WOMAN AND CHILD ARE BITTEN BY VICIOUS DOGWife and Child of C. J Stein Are Bitten By Vicious Bui! Terrier AtCampbell*# Island.While spending the day at Camp* bell’s Island yesterday the wife and child of C. J. Stein, proprietor of the meat market on Fourteenth street, were both bitten by a vicious bull terrier belonging to some campers on the Island The baby was playing In the. sand when the dog which la usually tied up but had broken loose attacked it. Mr btein was across the river at the time fishing,4'but Mrs. Stein, hearing the child s scream, ran to its assistance, but not before the Infuriated animal had hurried its teeth in the child’s hip. Mrs Stein held the baby high above her head andthe dog attacked her, lacerating the flesh on her left limb anu biting her on the arm.Arthur Bnggs and another man, who were bathing near there ran to Mrs. Steins’ assistance and succeeded In killing the dog with an ax. Both of them were bitten slightly. Mrs. Stein and the three year old child were placed under a physician's care as soon as possible It is thought that they wih recover tf no complications set In This Is a bad time of year for such things, the physician stated, and they will not be entirely out of danger for some time. The woman and child are being cared for at the island.
