Engineer Stanton did not escape so easily. He was terribly bruised, has a bad cut across the forehead, and was seriously Injured inter-• % » * «nally. His physicians say he may recover unless internal hemorrhage takes place, in which case he cannot live; they are unable to ascertain the extent oli his injuries at present. It is wonderful how either the engineers or firemen escaped instant death, as the engines and cars were all piled up in a hean beside the track.
