S Sgt. Francis Whitmire, 34, sta tioned at the Clinton County Air Force Base, today was restricted to the base following a fatal traf fic accident in which he was in volved early Sunday morning. Miss Betty Jack Davis, of Spring Lake, Ky., 21, member of the Da vis Sisters singing team, was killed in the head-on collision which occurred on Montgomery road. Miss Davis was riding in her father’s car driven by Patrick Hurtt, of Covington, when it was struck by the approaching vehicle driven by Whitmire. He told police he didn’t know what happened, “I guess I fell asleep or some thing.” Others reported injured in the crash were: the second member of the Davis Sisters team, Miss Mary Frances Penick, of Spring Lake who suffered head injuries; Set. Whitmire, face cuts and a gash in the right knee, Hurtt, head cuts and Robert Newport, of Cov ington, head cuts. Police said that a charge of crossing the yellow line would be filed and it was reported Miss Da vis’ family had indicated they would file charges also.
