J.C.WEATHERINCTON DIED III COLO. JULY 25When the word flashed over the wire that J. C. Weatherington had died at Colorado Springs, Colorado, on Tuesday, July 25, 1916, the news caused universal sorrow and sadness among neighbors and friends as well as near relatives in Milton and Lebanon vicinities where deceased had spent the greater part of his life, excepting the six weeks proceeding his death.On the 10th of June, he in company with Mrs. Weatherington left Milton for Amarillo, Tex., in hopes of regaining his health which had been failing for the last few months. His health continued failing and at the advice of his physician he was taken to Colorado Springs on the 24th of July, at which place he quietly passed away on July 25th. Although known to be in failing health no one realized the end was so near. It was hard to believe that splendid specimen of manhood was cold in death, and that kindly heart had ceased to beat. During his illness he was constantly cared for by his devoted wife whose recent sorrows have been to great for utterance. Daunt, as he was known by all, numbered his friends by his acquaintances, for his genial disposition won for him friends wherever he went and was loved and respected by all.of John and Mary Jane Wea^her-ington, was born four and one-half miles northeast of Milton in Van Buren county, Iowa, August 23, 1870, and died July 25, 1916, at Colorado Springs, Colorado, aged 45 years, 11 months and 2 days. On the 10th of March, 1897, he was united in marriage to Miss Mamie Canfield of Lebanon, Iowa, who remains to mourn his departure together with an t aged mother, one brother, Oscar, of near Milton, three sisters, Mrs. T. W. Carr of San Miguel, Californial, Mrs. J. P. Wilson and Mrs. J. S. Hargrove of near Milton, and a host of other relatives and friends. Father, two sisters and two brothers having preceeded him in death some years ago, he confessed his Saviour and united with the M. E. church at Lebanon, Iowa, and remained steadfast in the faith until the last. The funeral was held at the Lebanon church conducted by Rev. W. I. N.
