On the 15th of February, 1911, ale the plans were formall yaccepted and to- filed with the county auditor.BATE OF APPROPRIATION.At the August meeting in 1910 a requisition for $250,000 for the con-ho | struction of the new court house was an I made.There is at present $98,000 to. the nd county treasury, and $7,000 have al-ng ready been paid to the court house contractors. It is thought that by id- Januray 1, 1912, it will be possible all t0 apply $100,000 on the payment of the new temple of justice. It is gratifying to the taxpayers of DdKalb to know that within ten years the building will be paid for without necessitating a raising of the tax levy from the rate that has been in vogue for y f a rs.The bids on the new building were asked for on May 4, 1911, and there were ten bidders. The lowest bid was that of J. B. Goodall of Peru,Tnd. it being in the sum of $185,757. |He made an allowance of $300 for the» eir ol deourt house. Their bid for curb and approaches was $3,500.On May 8, workmen commenced to raze the old court house, and within a short two weeks the building was totally destroyed and hauled from the site. By the first of the year the contractor hopes to have the roof on the new temple, and thereby permit of work during the winter months.
